If I were to distill the fastest path to feeling a sense of purpose, it would be based on this shortcut set of questions:
- What excites you?
- What agitates you?
- What are you curious about?
- What’s something from earlier in your life that you loved, but feels forgotten?
We need to be asking these questions for ourselves as society hasn’t created a midlife roadmap. Only 15 percent of people aged 45-54 have received career advice in the past three years, compared to two-thirds of those aged 16-24. It makes sense historically, but in a world where many of us will be working into our 70s and 80s, we must create a purpose pitstop in midlife.
“Cultivating Purpose” is one of our curriculum’s three MEA core pillars. Find some workshops and online programs focused on purpose HERE.
