What Are You Doing for Thanksgiving and Pre-Christmas?

The “holidaze” can feel both tender and toxic and many people look for an alternative way to spend this time of the year. We’ve got a few MEA options for you to consider.

First of all, we’ve cut the prices for three of our workshops to encourage you to visit during the holidays (a 25% discount to $3,600 shared and $4,500 single with financial aid still available). We have two of them happening during Thanksgiving week and one happening the week before Christmas:

  • Exploring Wisdom of Gratitude and Teachings of Nature (Nov 25-30 in Baja with Mark Coleman, Lori Schwanbeck and Teddi Dean): This is the perfect time to be in Baja with migrating whales and hatching sea turtles and Mark and Lori are well-known guides for experiencing the awe of nature. Nature will be the classroom.
  • Reclaim the Transformative Power and Joy of Thanksgiving (Nov 25-30 in Santa Fe with Wolf Martinez, Rob King, and Sue Izzo): Are you curious about the indigenous perspective of this American tradition? Would you like to experience an Inipi (sweat lodge) with two wise Native Americans, Wolf and Rob? This promises to be a one-of-a-kind cultural workshop.
  • Chip’s 50+ Film Fest (Dec 17-22 in Santa Fe with me, Julie Benello and Eve Brandstein): I love going to film festivals and there’s no better time to appreciate 2-3 films a day than the darkest time of the year. I’m honored to be joined by two MEA alums who are well-known film producers as we watch 9 feature-length films and 3 short documentaries relevant to the MEA curriculum (“American Beauty,” “The Intern,” and mostly exquisite films you’ve never heard of) and then discuss how it’s relevant to us.

We also have two great workshops that same pre-Christmas week you might consider: Dacher Keltner’s popular, annual Cultivating Awe workshop in Baja Dec 16-21 and bestselling author and Santa Fe local Robin Fisher Roffer’s ReInvention: Write, Live and Tell Your Greatest Story on the ranch Dec 16-21 which is a perfect workshop to prepare you for a new narrative in 2025.
