Michael Hebb

Michael is the Founder of Life Over Dinner. He currently serves as a Board Member of Village Health Works and as Board Advisor (Emeritus) at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts. In the recent past, he served as a Partner at RoundGlass and Senior Advisor to Summit Series, Theo Chocolate, CreativeLive, Architecture For Humanity, and Mosaic Voices Foundation.

Michael’s groundbreaking work with Death Over Dinner emerged from his own early encounters with mortality. After losing his father to Alzheimer’s at age thirteen, Hebb developed a profound understanding of how challenging end-of-life conversations can be – and how essential. Named an “underground restaurateur, impresario and provocateur” by The New York Times, he has transformed this personal experience into a global movement.

Launched 12 years ago, Death Over Dinner provides a framework for people to gather around a meal and engage in meaningful conversations about mortality. The initiative has grown exponentially, with over one million people participating in these transformative dinners worldwide, making it one of the most successful end-of-life awareness campaigns ever created.

A captivating speaker, Hebb has shared his insights through a widely-viewed TEDMED talk and numerous speaking engagements at universities and conferences globally. His second book, Let’s Talk About Death (Over Dinner) continues to expand this vital work. His approach combines the intimacy of shared meals with carefully crafted conversation tools, proving that the dinner table can be one of our most powerful venues for transformative dialogue.
