This is the question that National Geographic Fellow, bestselling author, and three-time Guinness World Record distance cycling holder Dan Buettner set out to answer on his quest to reverse-engineer a formula for longevity.

After scouring the globe to discover regions where people tend to live much longer than average, he discovered five distinct areas that boasted the highest rates of living centenarians. These areas, which Dan dubbed “Blue Zones,” include: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Ikaria, Greece; Nicoya, Costa Rica; and Loma Linda, California.

Dan and his team investigated what these communities had in common to promote longevity and long-term health and wellbeing in residents and presented their findings in a compelling Netflix four-part docu-series called Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones that was watched by millions.

In this Owning Wisdom workshop co-facilitated with Céline Vadam from Blue Zones, you will discover how to harness the wisdom of proven longevity practices to increase your happiness, energy levels, vibrancy, and overall wellbeing as you make the most of your remaining decades on the planet.

The Blue Zones team is a group of passionate change makers who are dedicated to helping people and entire communities live better and longer. As a Blue Zones Retreats & Hospitality Expert, Céline Vadam creates inspiring wellness experiences by weaving together her holistic health and lifestyle expertise with her hospitality industry background.

Along with her deep involvement and study of Blue Zones locations, Céline is a certified health and lifestyle coach, reiki and crystals healer, yoga teacher, and breathwork practitioner and has worked in a range of strategic roles and projects across the globe. Barbara Tint, Ph.D. is a social/political psychologist, university professor, global trainer and published author. She has lived all around the world, bringing an international and multicultural lens to her work. She is an expert improviser and storyteller, and brings these methods to all that she does.

Lizzy Wetzel

Experience Facilitator

Lizzy Wetzel is a Santa Fe based artist, facilitator, and creative experience producer. She is passionate about encouraging creative connection through acts of making, intuitive play and collaborative exploration. She is an avid believer in the transformational power found in imagination, humor, and breathtaking landscape.
