On the contrary, our institutions remain largely the same as they were a hundred years ago—frozen with inertia and stuck in a mindset that still insists on seeing people in their 50’s and 60’s as old.
The question for each of us is simple. How do we take matters into our own hands, and reinvent the time we have in the second half of life? While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, reinvention can start anywhere, and most often with a good question. What new skills will I need as I get older? What curiosities have I always wanted to follow? How could I help others? Feed my Soul? Give my life purpose? The more we follow our questions with honesty and courage, the more we will find meaning and joy in this new reality—living our extra years as the gift they are.
What will you do with your gift?
