Personally, the voice inside my head believes I’ve never aged. More accurately, I feel 20 years younger than my chronological age. Is this a problem? It is when my body doesn’t keep up with my mind’s idea of how old I am. I feel it the next day. Fortunately, a nap often solves the problem. Of course, as soon as I wake up refreshed, I go back to wondering what I will be when I grow up…and what it will feel like to be old.
In reality, my age isn’t static. I am all the ages I’ve ever been. So, yes, at times, I feel like a crazy adolescent, and, at other times, I feel like a studly dude half my age. The problem arises when I covet those ages.
Of course, I know the solution: I need to stop the “covet” and start to “love it”—appreciating all the ages I’ve ever been. After all, they make me who I am today. And, on an average day, that feels pretty good, no matter my age.
