Life as a Rental Vehicle.

Baja is famous for its treacherous roads with its stunning vistas. It’s heaven for anyone who loves to drive backroads. It’s hell for rental car companies. What an apt metaphor for life. We’re issued a vehicle at birth: our body. We’re offered expensive rental insurance (growing up with our parents), some driver’s education (school), and a roadmap (life lessons).

Some of us maintain our vehicle with tender loving care and precision, while others drive like the Baja 1000 off-road motorsport race. Along the way, we all need a few pit stops.

MEA is a midlife pit stop with a skilled and passionate crew ready to jumpstart the heart and soul for the next leg of one’s journey.

This week, we have MEA guest faculty member Tom McCook, our pit stop crew leader for our current Sabbatical Sessions. We’re lucky to have him. Tom is an internationally recognized Pilates teacher and movement specialist. Put another way, he knows how to keep our cars optimized for whatever road conditions we may face.

And let’s face it, as any Modern Elder will tell you, our vehicle will depreciate over time, especially in the second half of its useful life. This is the era when our body needs more of our attention, not less.

When was the last time you took an actual pit stop to service your body, heart, and soul?

Maybe now is the time.
