Living Our Gifts: Revisioning Midlife.

In the course of three days, two well-known NY Times Op-Ed columnists recently wrote columns that sounded like they were written on the beach in front of MEA’s campus. David Brooks pondered the value of wisdom and deep listening, Wisdom Isn’t What You Think It Is.

And, Charles Blow’s The Second Phase of Adulthood reminds us that we all go through an increasing number of transitions in midlife and beyond and they can profoundly change us.

Midlife is the Rodney Dangerfield of life stages: “it don’t get no respect.” And, yet, it’s increasingly clear that the world is waking up to the fact that one’s midlife crisis might be a midlife calling in disguise. This is the kind of topic we’ll be discussing with five luminaries this coming Saturday with a free, live online event MEA has created in collaboration with Wisdom 2.0.

online gathering

Michael Franti, Eileen Fisher, Anderson Cooper, and Paul and Jasmine Hawken will join me and Wisdom 2.0 founder Soren Gordhamer in exploring what’s to be learned and catalyzed by our midlife stage. I hope you’ll join us.

For a taste of what’s in store, here’s a video of Soren, Paul and Jasmine on our MEA campus talking about the event.
