Paradoxical Reflections

* Chip’s Note: Both of this weekend’s guest posts come from recent MEA grads who wrote these sentiments while in the workshop. Jenny’s thoughts came from a place of awe and deep gratitude and I’m honored to share them with you. *

Know yourself, but not too much. Always make way for mystery. It is when you surprise yourself with a reaction you don’t expect or an emotion that burbles to the surface that are the true moments of awe in this precious life.

Take your life with razor-sharp seriousness, but know that life is just a game, and enjoy every moment to the fullest. You are unique. You are not meant to follow anyone else’s path. You are here to do great things and absolutely nothing simultaneously. Don’t limit yourself, but don’t push yourself into exhaustion or deep fear. Be gentle with your heart and soul. It is an act of love to do so. Don’t label yourself. You are too big and bright for a label. And, do label yourself if it provides you with community and a feeling of reverence.

Living a full life means learning how you operate best and adjusting things when your operating system changes. When you are ill, take refuge in healing. When you are full of energy, go on an adventure. Always listen to yourself, but do not listen to your thoughts. They are static. Your true information arrives with peace, grace, softness, and sometimes even silliness. When you feel bad for yourself or others, let the dust settle. When the dust settles, you may see yourself or others more clearly as the great beings you are. Be stardust, light and bright, and essential and also insignificant. Be nature.
