Stacy Peralta

Stacy Peralta is a seasoned expert at radical transitions. Throughout his life he has followed his passions to see where they might lead him and worn many different hats in the process.

Stacy got his start with the Zephyr Competition Team – a group of skateboarders also known as the Z-Boys, from Venice, California. After becoming the highest-ranked professional skateboarder at the age of 19, he partnered with George Powell to  form the company Powell-Peralta, which became one of the most successful skateboard brands of the 1980s.

Stacy went on to form the legendary Bones Brigade team, which included some of the world’s best skaters at the time, many of whom revolutionized the sport of modern skateboarding. He directed and produced the first-ever skate video, the Bones Brigade Video Show, and appeared in the 80s classic movie, Real Genius.

After that he went on to produce several award-winning documentaries about skateboarding, surfing, and gang violence in Los Angeles, and also wrote the screenplay for the 2005 movie, The Lords of Dogtown. Most recently, he just had his first art show of photography and paintings.

He looks forward to being a student with you as much as a teacher during this transformative week together.
