The Fear of Not Succeeding.


Bald and bewildered, I was not in my natural habitat when I joined Airbnb in early 2013. I’d never worked in a tech company. I’d never heard of the “sharing economy.” I didn’t know what it meant to “ship a feature.”

As I suggest in the video below of me, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, and moderator Julie Hanna at the Commonwealth Club, I had to learn how to turn fear into curiosity. This can be just as paralyzing for someone who has a history of success as it can be for someone who’s lost their sense of confidence.

How do you limit your life by focusing only on those areas where you know you can succeed?
