The Wisdom of Making Mistakes.

Without mistakes, how do we learn? A baby has no self-consciousness in moving from crawling to walking. Why do we find learning so painful as we become full-fledged adults?

The list of what inhibits us from making mistakes is as long as we are old. The fear of looking stupid. The desire not to lose what we have. The sense of responsibility that our mistakes might hurt those we provide for. The ego’s desire to feel infallible or perfect. The energy it takes to learn something new.

Actress Sophia Loren said, “Mistakes are the dues one pays to live a full life.” I couldn’t agree more. So, go make a mistake or two today. Better yet, be grateful for those mistakes. After all, they are the raw material for growing your wisdom.
