The Wisdom of the Butterfly.

A week ago, my TED talk (go.ted.com/chipconley23) about the Midlife Chrysalis got published suggesting that a caterpillar consumes, a chrysalis transforms, and a butterfly pollinates, mirroring our early adulthood, our midlife, and our modern elder years.

Two days later, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Michael Meade’s “Living Myth,” and he was talking about the metamorphosis of butterflies. Who knew that the Greek word psyche means butterfly which implies how we are all secretly connected to the essential dynamic of transformation in life?

I highly recommend you listen to this episode to understand that the caterpillar had the essential DNA to become a butterfly inside of it (in its “imaginal cells”) just like we have the capacity for transformation in our imagination. In the same sense that the imaginal cells hold all the information and energy for the butterfly to be, there is core imagination and deeper self trying to awaken in the soul of each person.

P.S. Wish me luck as I am hanging out today with my friend Rich Roll cutting another episode for his podcast. I’ll be talking about my new book “Learning to Love Midlife: 12 Reasons Why Life Gets Better With Age.” I know many of you were introduced to me and MEA through my last episode with Rich. Hope you’ll share that one with friends as well as the upcoming one which will come out around the time of my book launch.
