Back in my days as the innkeeper of San Francisco’s infamous rock ‘n roll hotel, The Phoenix, I got to meet all kinds of eccentric artists and entertainers.

Does AI represent evolution or de-evolution? Very few tech disruptions are binary. The internet gave the world access to information like never before, but it also created social media which, based upon all kinds of evidence, has been exhibit 1 for de-evolution.

Here’s my newest thinking on this.

AI has replaced humans as “genius.” But, all AI is doing is synthesizing what’s known, based upon enormous historical data sets.

Humans are “ingenious,” intuiting what can be, based upon tapping into the mystery of one’s intuition and connection with the collective human consciousness. Who knows, your data set for helping you to be ingenious might even include a connection to your past lives? AI doesn’t have access to that…yet.

If this is all true, maybe we’ve mistakenly focused our kids’ education on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) – skills that AI will perfect, when we should focus them on FLOWER (Finding Life’s 🌺 Wonders: Exploring Relationships) – skills that allow humans to flourish.

In sum, AI’s genius is in compiling the past while humans’ ingenuity helps us to chart the future…and to feel loved and cared for by enlightened witnesses, not a bunch of chips…hey, don’t make fun of my name, Chip!
