Wisdom Can Sneak Up and Attach Itself to You.

More than 80 years ago, Swiss engineer George de Mestral was walking his dog when he noticed burrs sticking to him and his pooch. Most of us would have just complained about what comes next: de-burring the dog. But George was curious. No, Chip, don't go there!

Yes, he was a curious George.

George studied the burrs under a microscope and saw the tiny hooks that helped them to cling. And, from that form of biomimicry, Velcro was born. Well, it wasn’t quite that easy, as it took thirty more years for his discovery to become a popular consumer product.

But, the lesson for us all is clear. Wisdom is a web. If we’re open to witnessing it, the web of life is full of wisdom. We can’t sit back and do nothing. We need to open our hearts and minds with curiosity and lean into all the beautiful ways the universe reveals itself. And when we do, we will find that the web of life is full of wisdom.

What if, once a month, you noted your most interesting discovery of the month? Maybe it’s time to mix your curiosity with a little bit of pattern recognition.

You don’t have to be in Baja to have an “aha!”
