Hello, Goodbye

When life changes suddenly – how do you find meaning, belonging, and growth?

Life's profound transitions – divorce, grief, parenthood, empty nest, career shifts – arrive without a roadmap. Where our ancestors had rites of passage and community support, we're left with hollow gestures: hasty funerals, makeshift caregiving arrangements, and paperwork that reduces life-altering shifts to mere checkboxes.

Artist and bestselling author Day Schildkret offers a powerful alternative.

Acclaimed for Hello, Goodbye: 75 Rituals for Times of Loss, Celebration and Change and Morning Altars – praised by luminaries like Esther Perel – Day guides us through transitions with creativity and insight. His 7-step framework transforms challenges into catalysts for growth and healing, particularly for those navigating midlife.

Day's world-renowned  Morning Altars practice has become a global movement of intentional beauty-making, with exhibitions at the California Museum of Oakland and recognition worldwide.

In this workshop, you'll learn to honor endings while embracing new beginnings with courage. Participants consistently report finding profound healing beyond what they've found in conventional therapy,  gaining both solace and inspiration alongside fellow travelers on similar paths.

Join internationally renowned ritualist Day Schildkret for a transformative journey through life's crossroads. Discover powerful modern rituals that honor your transitions, reveal their hidden wisdom, and help you move forward with renewed purpose. Don't just survive change – learn to harness its power and emerge more authentically yourself.

What you’ll gain

Through a powerful fusion of MEA's curriculum and Day's nature-inspired ritual practices, you will:

  • Discover ritual as your compass to navigate between your past, present, and desired future with clarity and purpose
  • Uncover the sacred gift in change as you learn to embrace life's thresholds as portals to transformation
  • Harness the alchemy of "symbolic action" to align your inner experience with your most authentic vision for reality
  • Visualize possibilities and prepare yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually for your next chapter
  • Transform fear into creative power as you learn to dance with uncertainty rather than resist it
  • Develop your own personal rituals and rhythms that will give you stability when navigating uncertainty
  • Master the 7-step Morning Altars practice using nature, art, and intention to create roots of meaning amid change
  • Discover how to find awe, contentment, and gratitude in all of life’s experiences – even the uncomfortable moments
  • Create custom "Threshold Wonderings" that provide reflection, refinement and direction to point your way forward into the unknown
  • Develop more emotional resilience adapting to life's changes with grace, wisdom, and even joy

By the end of your five days with Day and the MEA faculty, you will feel rejuvenated and energized, excited to dive back into your life and embrace your next exciting chapter.

You'll carry with you a treasury of powerful new rituals that provide structure and meaning during life's transitions, bringing deeper peace and clarity to your personal journey. You'll discover a profound sense of connection to yourself and the world around you.

Born in Mexico to a Mexican mother and Jewish father, Saul has always lived in multiple worlds and realities at the same time. His early sensitivity to other vibrations and premonitions shaped his life’s path, leading him to dedicate his life and work to serving others and supporting communities in their spiritual growth and well-being.

People of many different belief traditions and many with no spiritual beliefs at all have received valuable insights from their experiences with Saul. We are sure you will feel inspired and grateful for the time you get to spend in his calm and peaceful presence.

Meaning-making helps us navigate change and pass through thresholds with grace and purpose.

People everywhere are hurting because many of us don’t know what to do when life changes.

Rituals allow you to slow down to honor and become present in the moment as you mark the real moments in your life, so you can fully acknowledge and release the past with love and embrace what’s coming next.

When you’re able to meet the wonders and sorrows of your life with clear-eyed wakefulness and strength, you’re better able to learn all of the lessons life has to teach you and appreciate the complex beauty of life, in all of its myriad awesomeness.

Embrace the power of ritual and discover how rich and meaningful your life can be

People come for the workshops,
but they stay for the community

This is truly MEA’s “secret sauce” and something you can only experience in person: the powerful connections you will make, not only with your fellow participants and the incredible MEA faculty, but also the deeper sense of connection you will feel to your own inner self and the natural world around you.

Research into aging shows that your relationships play a HUGE role in your health and wellbeing later in life. At MEA, you will make deep and lasting connections and become part of a larger community that will make your life richer and more meaningful.

Many of our alumni cohorts have stayed in close touch for years after their workshop and we have a growing number of local alumni chapters all over the world. It’s a joy for us to see them continuing to offer each other community, friendship, and support as they create thriving midlives for themselves. So if you have been feeling at all disconnected or isolated on your journey, we would love to have you join us!
